Hinduism - often regarded as an ancient, outdated religion that does not seem very compatible with modern life. That is, to those who don't know.
As we begin studying this eternal way of life (Sanatan Dharma), we understand that its timelessness, vastness, and depth are the layers of the foundation for understanding the universe and how it works, in a way that cannot be accomplished without it.
My late GuruJi, Rampersad Ramoonsingh, used to say that one could consistently find the answers to all of life's questions within the pages of our sacred texts. As I grow, I find this to be the absolute truth. Regardless of how significant or trivial an issue seems, it is addressed within our Shastras.
At times, we may be intimidated by the magnitude of knowledge and philosophy within these texts. Where do we look? What do we look for? And, will we understand when we've found it?
My Blue Prabhu is a compilation of carefully selected well-known and lesser-known kahanis (stories) from our Puranas, eleven in total. These legends are told in a way that sparks the imagination while remaining authentic. They highlight the profound yet straightforward messages that exist within them. They speak to the virtues of kindness, humility, empowerment, faith, and surrender in a way that the youngest seekers can understand, internalize, build on, and take with them as they journey through life.
It is my prayer that through My Blue Prabhu, we all remember that Bhagawan's guidance, love, and grace are accessible to us always.
As a native of Trinidad and Tobago, I spent most of my foundational years learning and practicing the tenets of Sanatan Dharma at the Triveni Mandir. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have spent many hours at the feet of my parents and Gurus, receiving the teachings of the Shastras and Puranas through Parampara.
I believe that grace is enhanced only by gratitude and see it as my foremost duty to pass on the abundance and relevance of our tradition to others.
I currently reside in Arlington, Texas, with my husband, Shiva, and together, we lead Madhuban Dhaam Inc. This non-profit organization serves North Texas and environs with Satsangh and Seva. Passionate about learning and teaching, I lead weekly Parampara classes for students of all ages who seek deeper discussions about the insights passed on through Sanatan Dharma.
As an eternal student myself, I hope to find ways to make learning easier and memorable for other seekers.
